It’s a natural thing by now that we all buy things our favorite influencers share. Sometimes it is something the influencer shares because they like it and sometimes the product is promoted. Either way, those products draw us in. I want to share 5 things I was influenced to buy in 2019 and why I would – or would not – recommend them.
To be transparent, at the time of publication there are no affiliate links in this post. I am simply sharing these 5 things I was influenced to buy in 2019. I’ll update this post if that changes.
1. Jade Roller
The first item I was influenced to buy last year is kind of a funny one. You’ve probably gathered by now that I’m no beauty blogger but this beauty product just seemed fun. I might be the last blogger to buy a jade roller but I’m glad I finally jumped on the bandwagon. You can use it with a face oil or lotion but one of my favorite ways to use it is frozen. Maybe it is a placebo effect but putting my jade roller in the freezer before using it makes me feel like it decreases puffiness. Rolling my face with a frozen jade roller also just feels good.
2. Walmart Tote Bags
Influencer purchase number two of 2019 is this set of tote bags from Walmart. I had been looking for a new leather – or faux leather – tote bag for a while. After seeing a post from another blogger on facebook, I took a chance and bought this set. It is less than $20 for two bags so the purchase was worth a shot. I shipped to store and picked them up a few days later.
Unfortunately, these bags are awful. The adage about getting what you pay for is true here. The black bag had scratches on it when I pulled it out of the packaging. The brown bag is a really odd material that resembled a really short carpet fiber. I wish I could show you a close up picture because it is hard to describe.
3. Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick
Here is another beauty product I was influenced to buy. Maybe I’m becoming easily influenced on beauty products since I have no clue what I’m doing – ha!
The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick is a great pinky-neutral lip color that looks good on a variety of people. This lipstick is pricey but it will last me a long time since I don’t wear lipstick much. I bought the Pillow Talk Lipstick and Lip Liner Set from Charlotte Tilbury but you can buy just the lipstick from Sephora.
4. Madewell Transport Tote
This is my favorite influencer inspired purchase of all time. As I said before, I was looking for a leather tote bag for a long time. I really wanted this bag but it was incredibly pricey by my standards. The Madewell Transport Tote just checked all the boxes of what I wanted.
While I suffered through months (yes, months) of analysis paralysis I did two things. I messaged another blogger who had posted her bag repeatedly to ask if she really thought it was worth it. She immediately responded to say yes and tell me why she loved it so much. Then I signed up for the Madewell email list. I kept hoping they would put the Transport tote on sale. I finally got a code that worked on the bag at Thanksgiving. Not surprisingly this bag is exactly what I wanted.
5. Walmart Tank Tops
Sometimes the best things are the most simple. I love a good basic t-shirt, jacket, or in this case a tank top. Walmart sold these inexpensive Time and Tru tanks in a variety of colors this summer so I grabbed a few. Honestly, I planned to wear them in the yard or over my swimsuit but I ended up wearing them a lot more than that because they are just so soft. I actually went back to Walmart looking for more colors when I found the sweaters I posted about here back in August.
These tanks are sold out now but I found this similar one from Target that comes in a ton of colors. I don’t know how soft or comfy the Target ones are because I haven’t bought any yet. I’ll report back once I do.
