After posting a super simple scrunchie tutorial the other day, I thought it would be fun to show you how to make a bow knot pattern of your own.
Scrunchies are fun but they are better when you add a bow. That is why I want to share a quick DIY showing you how to make a bow knot pattern. This tutorial will help if you want to personalize your bow. You can go back to this post for my tutorial on making a bow knot scrunchie before we get started.
If you don’t want to make your own bow pattern, you can use this PDF pattern I made.
You can easily make a pattern for your knot bow on a piece of plan printer paper but I chose to use a scrap of medical paper for this one. I use medical or exam table paper – the kind that is on the exam table when you go to the doctor’s office – to trace my patterns. It’s basically the same thing as tissue paper but comes in a large roll. You can buy it pretty cheap on Amazon.
I cut a small piece and folded my paper in half both ways. That way I only had to draw my shape once and it’s easier to get all sides symmetrical. Or at least mostly symmetrical. It doesn’t have to be perfect since you will be tying the bow in a knot.
While the paper is still folded, cut out your pattern.
And you are done. It is really that easy. I have several versions of this pattern. I make a new pattern any time I want a different shape or size.
Don’t trust your drawing skills? Unsure of what size or shape you want? Download my PDF pattern here. This is my go to pattern that I use 90% of the time.
